Michael Dabroski Michael Dabroski, Violin Teacher and Performer Michael Dabroski received his Bachelor of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music in New York City and Master of Music degree from Temple University in Philadelphia. As an eight year old student Mr. Dabroski began attending Suzuki festivals at Ithaca College and Crane School of Music. For many years he studied violin and chamber music at the Rockland Community Music School (now Rockland Conservatory) and the Manhattan School of Music Pre-College Division, and orchestral studies at the Los Angeles Philharmonic Institute and Congress for Strings in Dallas, Texas. A cultural entrepreneur, Michael Dabroski authored and participated in grants received from Chamber Music America-Lilia Wallace Reader’s Digest Foundation, the New York State Council on the Arts, and the New York State Arts and Business Council to promote cultural tourism and other community type grants (including volunteer fire departments) totaling $926,610 between 1995 and 2005. In 2001 he was the recipient of the Warren/Washington County Individual Artist Award in New York and received a grant from the Meet the Composer Foundation for commissions to compose original chamber music. He was among a handful of Adirondack Park dignitaries chosen as cultural and tourism ambassadors visiting the Abruzzo National Park in Italy in 1998 to survey and compare cultural offerings and resources. In 2002 he performed a chamber music concert tour in Cyprus. In 2006 he performed all six Johannn Sebastian Bach Cello Suites transcribed for violin in recital. He served on music department faculties at Middlebury College, Union College and the Luzerne Chamber Music Center teaching violin and chamber music. He has been associated with the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music, New Hampshire, since 1979 as a student and a faculty member. Michael Dabroski founded and directed the professional chamber music organization Adirondack Ensemble from 1995 until 2004 while living in North Creek, New York. Michael Dabroski provided the Adirondack Ensemble vision and leadership to make professional chamber music concert and education programs accessible to culturally underserved residents year round in the economically disadvantaged New York State Adirondack Park. Michael Dabroski both organized and performed over two hundred-twenty chamber music concerts and introduced one hundred-thirty guest artists to the community. Michael Dabroski performed over one hundred-fifty major chamber music works in concert with Adirondack Ensemble. Michael Dabroski established five seasons of summer Adirondack Music Camp for children with seed funding from a Harry Connick Jr. benefit concert and implemented multiple weeks of Music Matters! chamber music residency programs in primary and secondary schools. In addition to chamber music, Michael Dabroski provided violin teaching studios in Adirondack locations such as Tupper Lake, Saranac Lake, Lake Placid, North Creek, Saratoga Springs, and Mayfield to hundreds of violin students. Currently Michael Dabroski is Artist in Residence in Violin and Chamber Music Studies at the Lake Champlain Waldorf School Shelburne and Charlotte campuses in Vermont in 2006-2007. He performs the Johann Sebastian Bach "Cello Suites" (transcribed for solo violin) and the "Partitas" in solo violin concerts. He plays with Vermont Symphony Orchestra and Vermont Mozart Festival. He serves as a violin adjudicator for the Vermont All-State Music Festival. Michael Dabroski lives in South Burlington, Vermont, with his wife Jill Rinehart Dabroski, MD, and their two sons.

Mr. Edward Simons Edward Simons (Violin Teacher: 1976-1984) Edward Simons has had a full career as a violinist and conductor. He played violin in the Pittsburgh Symphony under Fritz Reiner during the 1938-39 and 1941-42 seasons , taught violin at Michigan State College from1939-41, and toured the United States as the third conductor of the American Ballet Theater in 1947. In 1949 he began a conducting career on Broadway as Musical director of Where’s Charlie starring Ray Bolger. He conducted Wonderful Town , Two on the Aisle , My Fair Lady and Camelot, some on Broadway and some on national tours. In 1952 he founded the Rockland Symphony Orchestra , of which he is still Music Director and Conductor. In 1956 he helped establish the Community Music School , now the Rockland Conservatory, where he has an extensive class of violin students.

Mr. Stanely Bednar Stanley Bednar (Violin Teacher: 1984-1990) Stanley Bednar began studying the violin at an early age. His post-secondary education was received at Eastman, Juilliard, and Manhattan School of Music, with summer studies at the University of Minnesota. Mr. Bednar also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was decorated for valor. His professional performance career has included solo appearances throughout the Western Hemisphere, participation in various chamber music groups, membership in several symphony orchestras, and appearances at international music festivals. In 1954, Mr. Bednar was appointed to the college faculty of Manhattan School of Music as a teacher of violin and chamber music, joining the School’s Preparatory Division in 1956. That same year, he assisted the Manhattan School administration in preparing for its initial accreditation for four subsequent inspections, having served in every capacity over the years while maintaining a teaching schedule at the School. Mr. Bednar was responsible for establishing the procedures for college admission which were later adopted by all conservatories and schools of music. He was instrumental in adding new degree programs and the entire doctoral program. Mr. Bednar was solely in charge of the re-construction of the School’s present facilities at 120 Claremont Avenue, its move from East Harlem, and the sale of those buildings. He was the School’s representative to both the Federal and State governments and was instrumental in obtaining applications for various grants totaling several million dollars, enabling the School to relocate. He also worked directly with the NEA to establish its initial program of grants to independent conservatories and with the New York State Council on the Arts for major support of the opera program. For ten years Mr. Bednar served as an executive officer of the Association of Independent Conservatories and for twenty-five years was on the board of the Morningside Area Alliance. In addition, Mr. Bednar served for seven years as the chief executive at Manhattan School of Music.
